Welcome to our Disney Lorcana Gift Guide! If you’re buying a gift for your Lorcana pal (or interested in getting involved in Lorcana yourself!) and aren’t sure where to start, this is the guide for you.

What is Disney Lorcana? A quick introduction
Lorcana is a TCG – that is a trading card game, like Pokémon or Magic: The Gathering, except DISNEY! There are people who play the game, people who collect the cards, and people who do both!
Since its launch in September 2023, there have been 10 sets released, and 2 announced (a set is a pool of ~200+ new cards often set around a new theme):
- Set 1: The First Chapter
- Set 2: Rise of the Floodborn
- Set 3: Into the Inklands
- Set 4: Ursula’s Return
- Set 5: Shimmering Skies
- Set 6: Azurite Sea
- Set 7: Archazia’s Island
- Set 8: Reign of Jafar
- Set 9: Fabled
- Set 10: Whispers in the Well
- Set 11: Winterspell (release expected February 2026)
- Set 12: Wilds Unknown (release expected Q2 2026).
I do want to emphasise that you can enjoy Disney Lorcana without keeping on top of new set releases or spending lots of money on cards. You probably will need to keep up somewhat if you want to play competitively, but you can just buy specific cards for your deck.
For new collectors: Disney Lorcana Collection Starter Set

The perfect starting point for someone’s magical collecting journey! The Disney Lorcana Starter set includes 4 booster packs (12 cards in each) from the Fabled set – a great set to start with because it brings back some favourite characters from the first ever Lorcana set, along with some new additions (including from my fave, A Goofy Movie!).
The starter pack also includes a Tinker Bell foiled promo card, and a lovely card folder (portfolio) to store and present all their new cards, featuring a classic Mickey Mouse Brave Little Taylor design.
For new players: Disney Lorcana Gateway Game

The Gateway Box is ideal for newcomers to learn how to play the actual game, especially if you aren’t familiar with TCGs. It includes 2 minidecks – 30 cards in each built in a fixed order and designed to take 2 players through how to play the game. It introduces the rules (and more cards) in a staggered fashion as you tick off specific goals. By the end, you’ll have 2 proper-sized decks of 66 cards (the minimum size of a standard Lorcana deck is 60 cards).
The only thing to bear in mind is the Gateway Game doesn’t cover everything, e.g. location cards; it aims to lay the basic foundations so you can explore more Lorcana for yourself.
For experienced collectors AND players: Disney Lorcana Illumineer’s Trove sets

Troves are great for both collectors AND competitive players to expand their collections. There’s a Trove released alongside each Lorcana set, and it includes 8 booster packs, a spin-dial Lore counter (Lore are the points, you need 20 to win a game), 6 small themed dice (used to track damage), and a nice storage box with card dividers.
Note: I would recommend buying Troves from set 3 onwards as the content in the older set 1 & 2 troves include cardboard tokens and deckboxes instead of a Lore dial and dice (unless you’re completing a collection, of course).
For experienced players: Disney Lorcana Illumineer’s Quests

The Lorcana Illumineer’s Quests are the most ingenious Disney Lorcana releases from Ravensburger. Quests introduce a new way to play Lorcana, with players teaming up (or playing solo!) to defeat a nefarious Disney Villain. The boxes include everything you need to get going, including 2 prebuilt decks and the villain’s own deck and character card. So far two Illumineer’s Quests have been released: Ursula’s Deep Trouble (Set 4) and Jafar’s Palace Heist (Set 8).
The co–operative nature makes Quests a great option for people who want to play Lorcana, but don’t want to do it competitively. But don’t be fooled, because co-operative does not mean easy! The Illumineer’s Quests are very challenging, and you’re even encouraged to build your own decks to take on the harder levels.
Disney Lorcana accessories
Alongside the cards and gift sets, Ravensburger have released various Disney Lorcana accessories to pimp up your Lorcana experience.

For players, playmats are a lush option: my personal favourites are the Hunny Wizard (which I own), Big TInk, and Mufasa, but there’s so many to choose from!
For collectors, I would go with a portfolio: you can get ones with character art like this, or a classic Lorcana design. Standard portfolios hold around 250 cards.
Then there’s also card sleeves and card boxes – again you can get lots of different character artwork, or go for the more classic Lorcana logo.
Disney Lorcana stocking fillers
A lot of Disney Lorcana items are also the perfect size to stuff in a Lorcana fan’s stocking! Like the aforementioned card boxes and card sleeve packs, or even a playmat if the stocking is big enough.

Better yet, each Lorcana set has 2 (usually!) starter set decks; these are pre-built decks of 60 cards and another great jumping off point for people new to the game (or people who aren’t interested in building their own deck).
And the easiest, most budget friendly gift for a Disney Lorcana fan’s stocking – collector or player – are BOOSTER PACKS. Often available at local game stores, toy shops and even sometimes supermarkets. Each individual pack has 12 Lorcana cards, including a mix of common and rare cards, as well as one ‘shiny’. Buy one, buy three, if you really love them buy a whole box!
Disney Lorcana jigsaw puzzles

If you have a Disney Lorcana fan who also likes puzzles, Ravensburger released a cool set of 1,000 piece Disney Lorcana jigsaw puzzles earlier this year, each one designed around one of the six ‘ink colours’ used in the game (each deck can include cards for 2 ink colour types). More recently, Ravensburger has also released a set of 300 piece Lorcana puzzles – and you can bet I have my eye on the Honey Wizard one!
